Ayr downs Wellesley in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Mitch Klie gave the Ayr Centennials a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Wellesley Applejacks when he scored 3:11 into the extra period.

The win gave Ayr a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Riley Clipper had a great game for the Centennials, netting two goals. Clipper scored at 16:31 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 18:46 into the third to make the score 2-2.

Ayr forced Wellesley goalie Ryan Hergott to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

More assists for Ayr came via Jake Whibbs, who had two and Connor MacLean, Quinn Diamond, Jordan Pettitt, and Cole Cummings, who each chipped in one.

The Applejacks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Ayr power plays. Wellesley's offense rang up 38 shots on the Centennials' net.

The Applejacks were helped by Alex Uttley, who grabbed one goal. Uttley scored on the power play 8:16 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Wellesley. Wellesley had taken the advantage when Ayr's Brendan Schaefer got sent off for cross checking. Shaun Pickering picked up the assist. Wellesley also got a goal from Jackson Keller as well. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Nick Palmer, who had one.

Mitch Figueirdo rejected 36 shots on goal for the Centennials. Ayr ended with 49 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and one major. The Centennials ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cash Seraphim was ejected from the game. The Applejacks' Hergott stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Wellesley incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
