Dundas hangs on, beats Grimsby 3-1Market Street Arena Sun, Feb 28, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Cam McConnell scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Dundas Blues held off the challenges of the Grimsby Peach Kings in a tough 3-1 win. Dundas took over the lead for good with a goal by McConnell at 10:09 in the first period. Connor King assisted on the tally.With the win, the Blues avoided elimination to make the series score 3-3 in the best of seven series. McConnell had a great game for Dundas, netting two goals. Grimsby was stymied by the Blues' netminder Andrew Albano, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Albano managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.82 prior to the game. Dundas kept the Peach Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jeremy Currie made 42 saves on 45 shots. Justin Homer also scored for Dundas. In addition, Dundas received assists from Dan Pelosini, Mitch Moriarity, and Domenic Procopio, who contributed one each. Grimsby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Peach Kings were led by Brady Cranwell, who scored the team's only goal. Cranwell scored on the power play 3:48 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Dundas. A tripping penalty on McConnell had put Grimsby on the power play. The Blues incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Peach Kings incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
