Brantford outlasts Whitby, 3-2

The Brantford Blast gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Whitby Dunlops.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Mark Taylor's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Whitby faces elimination next time out.

Brantford was led by Taylor, who grabbed one goal. Taylor scored 6:12 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Brantford.

The Blast kept the Dunlops' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason Guy made 41 saves on 44 shots.

Others who scored for Brantford included Chris Rebernik and Dustin Alcock, who each put in one. More assists for Brantford came via Cameron Sault, Derek Medeiros, and Joel Prpic, who each chipped in one.

Brantford was unable to stop Whitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dunlops eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Whitby was helped by Adam Maccarone, who racked up one goal. Maccarone scored 3:50 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Whitby. Whitby also got a goal from Corey Tamblyn as well. In addition, Whitby received assists from Peter MacKellar, who had one.

The Blast's Anthony Marshall stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Brantford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities. The Dunlops incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
