Whitby beats Brantford 4-3 after comeback scareIroquois - Rink#1 Sat, Feb 20, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Whitby Dunlops survived a determined comeback attempt by the Brantford Blast on the way to a 4-3 win. Whitby made the score 4-1 on a goal by Kyle Musselman at 10:47 in the second period, and Brantford got as close as 4-3 when Cameron Sault scored 15:11 into the third period. With the win, the Dunlops evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown. Musselman was all over the ice for Whitby, as he finished with two goals in the win. The Dunlops excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Whitby also got points from Corey Tamblyn, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Whitby also got a goal from Brett McConnachie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Chris Eade, Scott Freeman, Peter MacKellar, Patrick Jobb, and Matthew Baxter, who contributed one each. Whitby was unable to stop the Blast from sending pucks towards the net, and Brantford eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Blast struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Dunlops to score three power play goals on five chances. Brantford was helped by Derek Medeiros, who tallied one goal. Medeiros scored 11:23 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Whitby. Joel Prpic provided the assist. Brantford additionally got points from Chris Rebernik, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Sault, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Brantford received assists from Jamie Williams, who had one and Dustin Alcock, who had two. Whitby's Jason Guy stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Dunlops incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For Whitby, Adam Van Dam was ejected from the game. Anthony Marshall rejected 25 shots on goal for the Blast. Brantford incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
