Kincardine blows out Mount Forest, 9-4

The Kincardine Bulldogs had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-4 win over the Mount Forest Patriots.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Mount Forest faces elimination next time out.

The Patriots were doomed by their poor performance on special teams, as Kincardine was able to score four times while on the power play.

The Bulldogs forced Patriots' goaltenders to work all game long, totaling 35 shots and forcing 26 saves. Mathieu Oullette made 21 stops and Kevin Hutchinson made five. Kincardine's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Mount Forest power plays. The Bulldogs' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in five goals.

Kincardine was led by Matthew Mah, who racked up one goal and three assists. Mah scored short handed 3:05 into the third period to make the score 7-3 Kincardine. The Bulldogs were on a disadvantage when Tyler Fregona went off the ice for slashing. Kincardine additionally got points from Eric Langridge, who also had one goal and one assist and Brady Richards, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Kincardine included Robert White, Shawn Rooke, Jordan Bell, Shawn Moore, Hunter Robins-Gibbons, and Derrick Bernath, who each put in one. In addition, Kincardine received assists from Dalton Hnatko, who had two, Patrick Wiejak, who had three, and Shane Vollmer, Gerrit Satosek, and Luke Czuczman, who each chipped in one.

Mount Forest forced Bulldogs' goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 31 shots and forcing 27 saves. Jacob Hutchings made 26 stops and Craig Luinstra (AP) made one.

The Patriots were led by Riley OConnell, who registered one goal and two assists. OConnell scored 1:10 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Troy Oakley picked up the assist. Mount Forest also had goals scored by Brendon Aitken, Trevor Hughson, and Ty Jackson, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Mount Forest were Shawn Lantz, who had one and Doug Ardis, who had two.

Kincardine incurred 44 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. Mount Forest incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
