Dundas blows out Grimsby, 5-1Peach King Arena Fri, Feb 26, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dundas Blues had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Grimsby Peach Kings. With the win, Dundas avoided elimination to make the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series. Cam McConnell had a great game for the Blues, netting two goals. McConnell scored at 15:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dundas and again while 7:37 into the second to make the score 3-1 Dundas. Grimsby was stymied by Dundas' netminder Andrew Albano, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Albano managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.98 prior to the game. The Blues stifled the Peach Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dundas forced Grimsby goalie Jeremy Currie to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Dundas also had goals scored by Bryce Robertson, Dan Pelosini, and Justin Homer, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dundas received assists from Ray Thompson, Mitch Moriarity, Phoenix Schueler, Clay Donnelly, Calean McPhee APM, and Chris Cudek, who contributed one each and Connor King and Domenic Procopio, who each chipped in two. The Peach Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Grimsby was led by Brady Cranwell, who scored the team's only goal. Cranwell scored 16 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Aidan Board picked up the assist. The Blues incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Peach Kings' Currie stopped 35 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Grimsby incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the Peach Kings, Joshua Kozielski was ejected from the game.
