Grimsby beats Dundas 2-1 after comeback scare

The Dundas Blues tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Grimsby Peach Kings would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

Grimsby made the score 2-0 on a goal by Garnet McComber at 12:20 in the third period, and Dundas got as close as 2-1 when Liam Buckley scored 19:45 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, the Blues face elimination next time out.

The Peach Kings were led by goalie Jeremy Currie, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Currie certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.33 entering the contest.

Grimsby was sparked by McComber, who racked up one goal and one assist.

The Peach Kings stifled Dundas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Grimsby also got points from Curtis Conrad, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Grimsby came via Aidan Board and Brennan Smith, who each chipped in one.

In addition, Dundas received assists from Ray Thompson and Dan Pelosini, who contributed one each.

Grimsby incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Colin Bilik recorded 26 saves for the Blues. Dundas incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
