Massachusetts University of uses early goal to top Vermont University of, 2-1

The Massachusetts University of Minutemen beat the Vermont University of Catamounts, 2-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Meghan Lawler provided Massachusetts University of with the game-winning tally when he scored 12:57 into the first period. Erika Von Den Benken picked up the assist.

The Minutemen's Samantha Baturin was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Baturin certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.74 entering the contest.

Massachusetts University of was sparked by Michaela Tosone, who racked up one goal. Tosone scored 1:00 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Massachusetts University of. Joanna Olson provided the assist.

The Minutemen did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Massachusetts University of puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. The Minutemen forced Vermont University of goalie Rosalie Gluck to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.
