Penn State University beats Northeastern University 4-0 as Long gains shutoutMullins Center Fri, Feb 19, 2016 Allyssa Long was superb between the pipes for the Penn State University Nitty Lions, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over the Northeastern University Huskies. Penn State University was led by Cassandra Dunne, who registered one goal. Dunne scored 8:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Penn State University. Darby Kern provided the assist. The Nitty Lions stifled Northeastern University's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Huskies were unable to stop Penn State University from sending pucks towards the net, and the Nitty Lions eventually piled up 55 shots on goal. Penn State University also got points from Kern, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Penn State University included Nina Elia and Sophie Paolizzi, who scored one goal each. In addition, Penn State University received assists from Kelly Watson, Elizabeth Tuorinsky, and Rachel Cole, who each chipped in one. Northeastern University managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Huskies ended up below its season average of 3.0 penalty minutes per game. Long rejected 28 shots on goal for Penn State University.
