In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Port Dover Sailors escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Grimsby Peach Kings. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Eric Mueller secured the win for Port Dover with a goal in the third period. Mueller was all over the ice for the Sailors, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Mueller scored the first of his two goals at 12:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Eric O`Keefe picked up the assist. Mueller's next tally made the score 4-3 Port Dover with 7:20 left in the third period. Steve Goeree provided the assist. Port Dover's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Grimsby power plays. Port Dover also got points from Goeree, who also registered one goal and one assist. Brad Johnson also scored for Port Dover. Grimsby's offense rang up 42 shots on the Sailors' net. The Peach Kings were led by Brennan Smith, who tallied one goal and one assist. Smith scored 9:15 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Brady Cranwell picked up the assist. Others who scored for Grimsby included Kyle Kozielski and Garnet McComber, who scored one goal each. More assists for Grimsby came via Dillon Cipretti and Aidan Board, who each chipped in one. Port Dover's Mathew Venturelli stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Sailors totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Port Dover ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Colton McLeod was ejected from the game. Jeremy Currie made 17 saves for Grimsby on 21 shots. The Peach Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
