Wellesley downs Tavistock in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Wellesley Applejacks' Nick Mercier scored 17:49 into overtime to beat the Tavistock Braves, 4-3 (OT).

The win by Wellesley broke a deadlock and gave the Applejacks a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Mercier had a great game for Wellesley, netting two goals.

The Applejacks kept Tavistock's goalie busy throughout the game, and Riley Collins made 59 saves on 63 shots. The defensemen of Wellesley were also effective in the Braves' zone, and came away with three goals.

Wellesley additionally got points from Sean McEwan, who also registered one goal and one assist. Wellesley also got a goal from Scott Martin as well. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Braidon Kerbs, who had two and Spencer Brick, Shaun Pickering, Cal Jefferies, Nick Breault, and Justin Lebold, who each chipped in one.

The Applejacks were unable to stop Tavistock from sending pucks towards the net, and the Braves eventually piled up 57 shots on goal.

Tavistock was helped by Ocean Check, who finished with one goal. Check scored on the power play 16:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tavistock. The Braves had gotten the advantage when Wellesley's Jake Wilkinson was sent off for high sticking. Angus Rowland provided the assist. Tavistock also got points from Jake Wiffen, who also had one goal and one assist and Maverick Petrie, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Tavistock came via Jacob Rooke, who had one.

Ryan Porter rejected 54 shots on goal for the Applejacks. Wellesley incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Applejacks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brick was ejected from the game. Tavistock incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Braves, Braedon Hancock was ejected from the game.
