Mooretown uses early goal to top Lakeshore, 4-2

The Mooretown Flags beat the Lakeshore Canadiens, 4-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

A goal 12:15 into the first period by Ben Morrison proved to be the game winner, and powered Mooretown to the victory. A cross checking penalty on Logan Percy had put the Flags on the power play. Nolan Riley picked up the assist.

With the win, Mooretown evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

Morrison had a great game for the Flags, netting two goals.

Mooretown also had goals scored by Joe DeSena and Landon Wilson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Dawson Vautour, who had two and Ryan Lyle and Matt Brandon, who each chipped in one.

Lakeshore kept Mooretown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 31 saves on 33 shots.

Mejoe Gasparovic also scored for Lakeshore. More assists for Lakeshore came via JJ Percy, Dylan Kolic, Brenden Crundwell, and Sebastian Kanally, who contributed one each.

The Flags incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Canadiens' Colin Tetreault stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Lakeshore totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Canadiens, Michael Long was ejected from the game.
