Amherstburg rolls over Wheatley, 5-2

The Amherstburg Integrity Admirals had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Wheatley Omstead Sharks.

The win by Amherstburg clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

Broden Meloche was all over the ice for the Integrity Admirals, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Meloche scored 1:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amherstburg. Marshal Laing picked up the assist.

Amherstburg pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

The Integrity Admirals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wheatley to score on any of its eight power plays. Amherstburg kept the Omstead Sharks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Eric Morneau made 27 saves on 32 shots.

Amherstburg additionally got points from Dylan Muzzatti, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Amherstburg included Ryan Alexander, Kasey Basile, and Luke Gangnon, who each put in one. More assists for Amherstburg came via Lucas Bersuk, who had two and Caleb Paquette, Curtis Prymack, Austin Jennings, and Chad Copeland, who each chipped in one.

Wheatley's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Amherstburg power plays.

The Omstead Sharks were led by Lucas Raffoul, who racked up one goal. Raffoul scored 2:45 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Amherstburg. Calyn Kir assisted on the tally. Wheatley also got a goal from Andreas Gossmann as well. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Derek Toews, Brady Hillock, and Brett Bowman, who contributed one each.

Daniel Tonietto made one save before being replaced by Connor Meyerink, who took the win and made 24 saves. Wheatley incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Omstead Sharks, Nick Tavolieri-Essex was ejected from the game.
