Blenheim outlasts Dresden, 4-2Ken Houston Memorial Arena Fri, Feb 19, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Blenheim Blades and the Dresden Kings was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Blenheim emerged with a 4-2 win. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Nick Delyzer at 16:56 of the second period. The win by the Blades clinched the best of seven series at 4-2. Eric Stewardson spearheaded the defensive effort for Blenheim, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 33 saves for the shutout. Drew Marlatt had a great game for the Blades, netting two goals. Marlatt scored at 16:32 into the first period to make the score 2-2 and again while 17:58 into the third to make the score 4-2 Blenheim. Blenheim kept Dresden's goalie busy throughout the game, and Travis Moore made 27 saves on 31 shots. Blenheim also got a goal from Dustin Maines as well. More assists for Blenheim came via Zack Horvath, who had two and Matt Clark, Kirk McKillop, Brendan Ritchie, Brayden Hopkins, and Kier Cumming, who each chipped in one. The Kings forced the Blades goalie Stewardson to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Dresden was led by Steven Funk, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Funk scored 7:52 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Dresden. Dillon Liberty also scored for Dresden. Blenheim incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bryan Boersma was ejected from the game. The Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
