Blenheim survives Dresden comeback, wins 3-1

The Blenheim Blades survived a determined comeback attempt by the Dresden Kings on the way to a 3-1 win.

Blenheim made the score 3-0 on a goal by Brayden Hopkins at 4:23 in the second period, and Dresden got as close as 3-1 when Kyle Dawson scored 14:57 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, the Kings face elimination next time out.

Hopkins had two goals to lead the Blades to victory.

Blenheim's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Dresden power plays.

Nick Delyzer also scored for Blenheim. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Drew Marlatt, who had two and Owen Bateman, Zack Horvath, Kier Cumming, and Corbin Hagerman, who each chipped in one.

Dresden excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

More assists for Dresden came via Alex Hall and Isaac McLean, who contributed one each.

The Blades' Klinton Kenney stopped 25 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Blenheim incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Travis Moore rejected 17 shots on goal for the Kings. Dresden incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
