Blenheim downs Dresden in overtime, 6-5 (OT)Blenheim Memorial Arena Sat, Feb 06, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Blenheim Blades pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Dresden Kings on a clutch goal by Matt Clark. The win by Blenheim broke a deadlock and gave the Blades a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. Blenheim kept Dresden's goalie busy throughout the game, and Travis Moore made 42 saves on 48 shots. The Blades were helped by Brayden Hopkins, who registered three goals and one assist. Blenheim also got points from Clark, who also tallied two goals and two assists. Blenheim also got a goal from George Wood as well. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Drew Marlatt, who had four and Kirk McKillop, Zack Horvath, and Dustin Maines, who each chipped in one. The Kings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Blenheim to score on any of its five power plays. The Blades were unable to stop Dresden from sending pucks towards the net, and the Kings eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Dresden was helped by Isaac McLean, who finished with one goal. McLean scored short handed 19:13 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Blenheim. The Kings found themselves down a man on Derrick VanEvery's slashing. Dresden additionally got points from Taylor Sisson, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Dillon Liberty, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Dresden included Kevin Ritzer and Will Tetzlaff, who each put in one. More assists for Dresden came via Logan Purbrick and Macks Holmes, who contributed one each. Klinton Kenney made 38 saves for Blenheim on 43 shots. The Blades incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dresden incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
