Dresden survives Blenheim comeback, wins 4-3

Ken Houston Memorial Arena    Fri, Feb 05, 2016

The Dresden Kings survived a determined comeback attempt by the Blenheim Blades on the way to a 4-3 win.

Dresden took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Blenheim storm back on a Drew Marlatt goal 18:33 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

With the win, the Kings evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Dresden was sparked by Isaac McLean, who grabbed one goal and one assist. McLean scored 7:14 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Dresden. Kyle Dawson picked up the assist.

The Kings kept the Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Klinton Kenney made 31 saves on 35 shots.

Others who scored for Dresden included Dillon Liberty, Derek Shaw, and Will Tetzlaff, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dresden received assists from Brady Hogg, who had two and Taylor Sisson, Derrick VanEvery, and Macks Holmes, who contributed one each.

Blenheim put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dresden to score on any of its four power plays. The Kings were unable to stop the Blades from sending pucks towards the net, and Blenheim eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Nick Delyzer also scored for Blenheim. More assists for Blenheim came via Brayden Hopkins and Braeden Allore, who each chipped in one and Matt Clark and Zack Horvath, who contributed two each.

Travis Moore recorded 28 saves for Dresden. The Kings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Blades incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
