GAME RECAP

Blenheim uses early goal to top Dresden, 2-0

Blenheim Memorial Arena    Tue, Feb 02, 2016

The Blenheim Blades took the lead against the Dresden Kings in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory.

A goal 10:33 into the first period by Nick Delyzer proved to be the game winner, and powered Blenheim to the victory. Matt Clark assisted on the tally.

The win gave the Blades a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Blenheim was led by Delyzer, who registered one goal.

The Blades stifled Dresden's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Kings were unable to stop Blenheim from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blades eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Brayden Hopkins also scored for Blenheim. More assists for Blenheim came via Owen Bateman, Brendan Ritchie, and Zack Horvath, who each chipped in one.

Dresden did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Klinton Kenney rejected 20 shots on goal for Blenheim. The Blades incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Travis Moore recorded 34 saves for the Kings. Dresden registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
