The New Hamburg Firebirds were firing on all cylinders against the Norwich Merchants, and when the final buzzer sounded Firebirds emerged with a 5-2 win. The win gave New Hamburg a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Quinten Haddock was all over the ice for the Firebirds, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Haddock scored the first of his two goals at 4:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Hamburg. Walker Davison assisted on the tally. Haddock's next tally made the score 4-0 New Hamburg with 6:51 left in the third period. Tyler Kleine picked up the assist. Norwich was unable to stop New Hamburg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Firebirds eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. New Hamburg also got points from Kleine, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Curtis Smith, who also had one goal and one assist. New Hamburg also got a goal from Andrew Boer as well. More assists for New Hamburg came via Tyler Randerson, who had two and Carter Tracey, who had three. The Merchants' offense rang up 31 shots on New Hamburg's net. Ryan Purcell recorded 29 saves for the Firebirds. New Hamburg incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Andrew Lefebvre rejected 39 shots on goal for Norwich. The Merchants incurred 46 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
