Hanover downs Mount Forest in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Hanover Barons pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Mount Forest Patriots on a clutch goal by Justin D Graham.

With the win, Hanover evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Although the Barons was up by as many as two goals in the second period, Mount Forest kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Patriots pulled to within 3-2 on a power play goal by Riley OConnell at 7:12 in the third period.

Graham had a great game for Hanover, netting two goals. Graham found the back of the net 13:42 into the third period to make the score 4-4 and again while on the power play 10:46 into the fourth to make the score 5-4 Hanover.

The Barons forced Mount Forest goalie Mathieu Oullette to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Jarrett Kuntz also scored for Hanover. More assists for Hanover came via Brodie LeMay, Carson Ivel, Derek Williams, Denver Hill, Matt Shields, and Mitch Wand, who contributed one each.

Hanover was unable to stop the Patriots from sending pucks towards the net, and Mount Forest eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

The Patriots were helped by Brendon Aitken, who finished with one goal and one assist. Aitken scored 7:46 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Doug Ardis assisted on the tally. Mount Forest also got points from Blair Butchart, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Ardis, who also had one goal and one assist, and OConnell, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Doug Costanzo, Michael Stefanelli, Trevor Hughson, and Ty Jackson, who each chipped in one.

Cody Van der Heide rejected 41 shots on goal for the Barons. Hanover incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Team's Tanner Mighton and Tanner Bastien were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Mathieu Oullette made 36 saves for Mount Forest on 41 shots. The Patriots incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
