In hotly contested affair, Wilkes-Barre beats East Coast, 7-5

Wilkes-Barre beat East Coast 7-5 in a hard-fought contest that saw the lead change hands four times.

Wilkes-Barre forced East Coast goalie Travis Spangle to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. Wilkes-Barre bested its season scoring average. Wilkes-Barre averages 2.9 goals per game.

Wilkes-Barre was led by Tanner Kahlau, who registered two goals. Kahlau scored the first of his two goals at 23 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wilkes-Barre. Matthew Emerick provided the assist. Kahlau's next tally made the score 5-5 with 15:22 left in the third period. Kyle Prelewicz picked up the assist. Wilkes-Barre additionally got points from Ryan Flanagan, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Prelewicz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Wilkes-Barre also had goals scored by Zacharia Ouladelhadjahmed, Derrick Wruble, and Lucas Ethington, who scored one goal each. More assists for Wilkes-Barre came via Darrin Bruce Jr and Brett Welsh, who each chipped in one.

East Coast surpassed its usual scoring output this season. East Coast has scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign.

East Coast was helped by Matt Bauchman, who tallied two goals. Bauchman scored the first of his two goals at 5:56 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Rick Mulligan provided the assist. Bauchman's next tally made the score 3-1 East Coast with 6:29 left in the first period. East Coast also got points from Mason Smith, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Ryan Monte, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tristan Archambault also scored for East Coast. In addition, East Coast received assists from Albert Wiggins and Jon Mathieu, who contributed one each.

Devin Peterson made four saves before being replaced by Mathieu Beaudet, who took the win and made 18 saves. Wilkes-Barre incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. East Coast's Spangle stopped 42 shots out of the 48 that he faced. East Coast incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
