McKenzie Carter gave the Mitchell Hawks a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Wingham Ironmen when he scored 1:58 into the extra period. The win by Mitchell broke a deadlock and gave the Hawks a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. Mitchell was led by goalie Brock Baier, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Baier managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.65 prior to the game. The Hawks were sparked by Carter, who had one goal. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:07 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Mitchell put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wingham to score on any of its four power plays. The Ironmen were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Mitchell eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. Mitchell also got a goal from Jake Finlayson as well. In addition, Mitchell received assists from Nathan Templeman, who had two and Haydn Favacho and Jalen Aitcheson, who contributed one each. Wingham was led by Matt McCracken, who scored the team's only goal. McCracken scored 12:12 into the second period to make the score 1-1. JJ Harland picked up the assist. The Hawks totaled 29 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Team's Favacho and Chad Lemire were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Ironmen's Ben Nelson stopped 47 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Wingham ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major. For the Ironmen, Brett Stacey and Josh Perdue were ejected from the contest.
