M2 Virginia Tech University uses big second period to beat M2 Elon University, 7-1

The M2 Elon University Phoenix was within striking distance after one period, but M2 Virginia Tech University put the pedal down in the second en route to a 7-1 victory.

M2 Virginia Tech University was led by goalie Tanner Jones, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. Jones certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.06 entering the contest.

Felipe Rodriguez had two goals to lead M2 Virginia Tech University to victory. Rodriguez found the back of the net 14:07 into the first period to make the score 2-1 M2 Virginia Tech University and again while on the power play 10:52 into the third to make the score 6-1 M2 Virginia Tech University.

M2 Virginia Tech University forced M2 Elon University goalie Garrett Johnston to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. M2 Virginia Tech University's goal total was higher than its season average.
