Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Omaha AAA 18U defeated Meijer AAA 18U in a shootout 3-2. The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. Meijer AAA 18U got a shootout goal from Ryan Hein. In addition to the clincher, Omaha AAA 18U got shootout goals from Shayne Monahan and Brendon Gysbers.Omaha AAA 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Meijer AAA 18U power plays. Omaha AAA 18U forced Meijer AAA 18U goalie Dawson Minder to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Omaha AAA 18U was helped by Jasper Weatherby, who had one goal. Weatherby scored 2:50 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Omaha AAA 18U. Phil Heisse provided the assist. Omaha AAA 18U also got points from Johnny Bennis, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Omaha AAA 18U came via TJ Polglaze and Monahan, who contributed one each. Meijer AAA 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Omaha AAA 18U to score on any of its four power plays. Meijer AAA 18U was helped by Tyrone Bronte, who finished with one goal. Bronte scored short handed 4:30 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Meijer AAA 18U. Meijer AAA 18U was on a disadvantage when Zack Olen went off the ice for hooking. Collin Rewerts also scored for Meijer AAA 18U. In addition, Meijer AAA 18U received assists from Skylar Miller and Andrew Walker, who each chipped in one. Omaha AAA 18U's Gavin Hubbard stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Omaha AAA 18U incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Minder rejected 35 shots on goal for Meijer AAA 18U. Meijer AAA 18U incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
