Washington Little Capitals 18U's comeback falls short, Omaha AAA 18U wins 4-2

Omaha AAA 18U, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Washington Little Capitals 18U and clinched a 4-2 victory.

Omaha AAA 18U led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Omaha AAA 18U's Nicholas Caprio scored at 10:44 in the second period to put Omaha AAA 18U up 3-0.

Brendon Gysbers had a great game for Omaha AAA 18U, netting two goals. Gysbers' tallies came at 13:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Omaha AAA 18U and 12:38 into the third to make the score 4-2 Omaha AAA 18U.

Omaha AAA 18U forced Washington Little Capitals 18U goalie Alex Chen to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Omaha AAA 18U also got points from Jasper Weatherby, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Omaha AAA 18U were TJ Polglaze, Shayne Monahan, Dane Johnson, and Jaden Anderson, who contributed one each.

Washington Little Capitals 18U managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Washington Little Capitals 18U ended up below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game.

Washington Little Capitals 18U was helped by Peyton Nash, who had one goal. Nash scored 15:54 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Omaha AAA 18U. Justin Daves provided the assist. Washington Little Capitals 18U also got a goal from Geoffrey Kostrzebski as well. In addition, Washington Little Capitals 18U received assists from Ryan Leibold and Alec Cordova, who each chipped in one.

Cole Weaver rejected 18 shots on goal for Omaha AAA 18U. Omaha AAA 18U totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For Omaha AAA 18U, Dylan McDonald was ejected from the game. Chen recorded 34 saves for Washington Little Capitals 18U. Washington Little Capitals 18U registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
