Ridley College penalty kill dominates in 5-2 defeat of Nichols School

The Nichols School Vikings failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Ridley College Tigers shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2.

Ridley College was led by Andrew McIntyre, who registered one goal and one assist. McIntyre scored on the power play 7:32 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Ridley College. The Tigers had gotten the advantage when Nichols School's Jack Millar was sent off for slashing. Connor Hill assisted on the tally.

Ridley College stifled the Vikings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Tigers forced Nichols School goalie Josh Graziano to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Ridley College was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 18 penalty minutes.

Ridley College also got points from Hill, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Ridley College also had goals scored by Ryan Mahshie and Zack McGrath, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Ridley College were Riley McCourt, who had two and Cole Cameron, Carson Edwardson, Hunter Randell, Brandon Skubel, and Adam Pys, who contributed one each.

The Vikings could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Nichols School was led by Steve Senese, who tallied two goals. Senese scored the first of his two goals at 18:51 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Ridley College. Senese's next tally made the score 5-2 Ridley College with 49 seconds left in the third period. Tom Elia picked up the assist.

Chris McGonigle recorded 22 saves for the Tigers. Ridley College registered three goals on six power play opportunities. The Tigers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Adam Difruscia was ejected from the game. Josh Graziano made 28 saves for the Vikings on 33 shots. Nichols School registered zero goals on eight power play opportunities.
