Upper Canada College beats Appleby College 4-2 after comeback scareDann Memorial Sat, Feb 06, 2016 The Appleby College Blue Dogs tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Upper Canada College Blues would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. Upper Canada College made the score 4-1 on a goal by Reid Humphrey at 15:54 in the first period, and Appleby College got as close as 4-2 when Sammy English scored 18:45 into the third period. Humphrey was all over the ice for the Blues, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Humphrey scored the first of his two goals at 15:27 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Upper Canada College. Mats Gavelin picked up the assist. Humphrey's next tally made the score 4-1 Upper Canada College with 4:06 left in the first period. Upper Canada College had taken the advantage when the Blue Dogs' Callum Jones got sent off for roughing. Zack Jackson assisted on the tally. Appleby College was unable to stop the Blues from sending pucks towards the net, and Upper Canada College eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. The Blues got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Upper Canada College also had goals scored by Michael Wood and Saverio Imbrogno, who scored one goal each. More assists for Upper Canada College came via Keenan Conlon and Elliot McDermott, who contributed one each. The Blue Dogs were helped by Will Graham, who had one goal. Graham scored 7:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Appleby College. Patrick Vulgan picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Appleby College were Tommy Hoogaars, who had one and Jacob Gower, who had two. Colby Muise recorded 27 saves for Upper Canada College. The Blues incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Appleby College's Nicolas Solari stopped 40 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Blue Dogs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
