Nichols School outlasts Upper Canada College, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Nichols School Vikings escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Upper Canada College Blues.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Brett Willits's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Nichols School was led by Willits, who tallied one goal. Willits scored 2:30 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Nichols School. Tom Elia provided the assist.

In the losing effort, Upper Canada College was sparked by Jacob Golden, who tallied two goals and one assist. Golden scored the first of his two goals at 1:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Upper Canada College. Brandon Grant picked up the assist. Golden's next tally made the score 3-2 Upper Canada College with 9:48 left in the second period. The Blues had gotten the advantage when the Vikings' Connor Zak was sent off for hooking. Reid Humphrey assisted on the tally.

Others who scored for Nichols School included Lucas Herrmann, Brandon Hausler, Alec Yerkovich, and Erik Urbank, who each put in one. More assists for Nichols School came via Matt Gasuik, who had two, Cole Donhauser, who had three, and Anthony Scanzuso and Adam Hawkins, who each chipped in one.

Nichols School was unable to stop Upper Canada College from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blues eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Upper Canada College got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Upper Canada College also got a goal from Elliot McDermott as well. Other players who recorded assists for Upper Canada College were Michael Wood, Saverio Imbrogno, and Mats Gavelin, who contributed one each.

Josh Graziano rejected 36 shots on goal for the Vikings. Nichols School incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Luca Imbrogno made 25 saves for the Blues on 29 shots. Upper Canada College incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
