St. Andrews College squeaks by Appleby College, 3-2

The game between the St. Andrews College Saints and the Appleby College Blue Dogs was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end St. Andrews College emerged with a 3-2 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by William Sirman at 14:54 of the second period.

The Saints were sparked by Sirman, who registered one goal.

St. Andrews College's offense operated below its season average. The Saints put an average of 5.8 pucks into the net per game. St. Andrews College forced Appleby College goalie Nicolas Solari to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots.

St. Andrews College also had goals scored by Corey Andonovski and Ryan OConnell, who each put in one. More assists for St. Andrews College came via Morgan Barron, who had two and Noah Lugli, Lucas Thorne, and Kody Clark, who contributed one each.

The Blue Dogs managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Appleby College ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blue Dogs' offense rang up 40 shots on the Saints' net.

Appleby College was helped by Callum Jones, who racked up one goal. Jones scored on the power play 18:17 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Andrews College. The Blue Dogs had taken the advantage when St. Andrews College's Lugli got sent off for boarding. Jacob Gower picked up the assist. Appleby College also got points from Gower, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Appleby College received assists from Steve Jang, who had one and Tommy Hoogaars, who had two.

The Saints' Cole Chapman stopped 38 shots out of the 40 that he faced. St. Andrews College incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Solari rejected 50 shots on goal for Appleby College. The Blue Dogs registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
