St. Andrews College uses fast start to beat St. Michaels College, 11-2

The St. Michaels College Majors fell behind early, and the St. Andrews College Saints kept piling on the points on the way to an 11-2 victory.

Lucas Thorne had two goals and one assist to lead St. Andrews College. Thorne scored the first of his two goals at 7:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Andrews College. Thorne's next tally made the score 3-0 St. Andrews College with 6:43 left in the first period. Connor Ali picked up the assist.

St. Michaels College's power play was ineffective against the Saints' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

St. Andrews College forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 13.0 minutes per game the Saints had been spending in the box. St. Andrews College's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven St. Michaels College power plays. The Majors were unable to stop the Saints from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Andrews College eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The Saints' goal total was higher than their season average. St. Andrews College averages 5.6 goals per game. The Saints got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

St. Andrews College additionally got points from Otto Saarimaa, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Mitchell Martan, who also tallied two goals and two assists, William Sirman, who also had one goal and one assist, Jacob Miller, who also registered one goal and one assist, Morgan Barron, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, and Regan Kimens, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jacob Ledson also scored for St. Andrews College. More assists for St. Andrews College came via Corey Andonovski, who had two and Noah Lugli, Kyle Hunter, and Kody Clark, who contributed one each.

St. Michaels College struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 21 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

St. Andrews College took out Kristian Hufsky after he had made 13 saves and installed Cole Chapman in goal, where he finished with four saves and the win. For the Saints, Luke Wyatt was ejected from the game. Mark Morrison made 35 saves for the Majors on 46 shots. St. Michaels College ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Patrick Yau was ejected from the game.
