St. Andrews College survives Ridley College comeback, wins 5-4

The Ridley College Tigers almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the St. Andrews College Saints managed to pull out a 5-4 win in the end.

St. Andrews College led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Saints' Lucas Thorne scored at 18:46 in the first period to put St. Andrews College up 3-0.

The Saints were paced by William Sirman, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Sirman scored 15:23 into the third period to make the score 5-4 St. Andrews College. Reid Yochim picked up the assist.

In the losing effort, Ridley College was led by Andrew McIntyre, who registered two goals. McIntyre scored the first of his two goals at 16 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Andrews College. McIntyre's next tally made the score 3-2 St. Andrews College with 12:20 left in the second period. Cameron Beaudry provided the assist.

St. Andrews College put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Tigers to score on any of their four power plays. The Saints kept Ridley College's goalie busy throughout the game, and Chris McGonigle made 45 saves on 50 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

St. Andrews College also got points from Otto Saarimaa, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Yochim, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Morgan Barron also scored for St. Andrews College. More assists for St. Andrews College came via Connor Ali, Nick Gosse, Corey Andonovski, and Ryan OConnell, who each chipped in one.

The Tigers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four St. Andrews College power plays. Ridley College's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Tigers average 2.5 goals allowed per game.

Ridley College also got a goal from Ryan Mahshie as well. In addition, Ridley College received assists from Carson Edwardson, Adam Difruscia, and Adam Pys, who contributed one each.

Cole Chapman made 25 saves for St. Andrews College on 29 shots. The Saints incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ridley College incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
