St. Andrews College uses big second period to beat Nichols School, 5-1Nichols School Wed, Dec 09, 2015 The St. Andrews College Saints scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Nichols School Vikings and clinch a 5-1 win. Nichols School was stymied by St. Andrews College's netminder Kristian Hufsky, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Despite the solid performance, Hufsky will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest. The Saints' penalty kill excelled, as St. Andrews College gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays. The Vikings were unable to stop the Saints from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Andrews College eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Saints were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 18 penalty minutes. St. Andrews College was helped by Regan Kimens, who grabbed one goal. Kimens scored 4:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 St. Andrews College. William Sirman picked up the assist. St. Andrews College also got points from Kody Clark, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Morgan Barron, who also registered two goals and one assist. St. Andrews College also got a goal from Alex MacDonald as well. In addition, St. Andrews College received assists from Mitchell Martan, who had three and Lucas Thorne, Corey Andonovski, and Jacob Ledson, who contributed one each. Nichols School did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Vikings average 4.5 goals per game. The Saints registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Jerry Baerwitz made 33 saves for Nichols School on 38 shots. The Vikings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
