St. Andrews College wins tough contest against Appleby College, 5-3St. Michaels Rink Sat, Nov 21, 2015 In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the St. Andrews College Saints escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Appleby College Blue Dogs. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Morgan Barron's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. St. Andrews College got the win with help from a great game by Alex MacDonald, who had one goal and two assists. MacDonald scored on the power play zero seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Andrews College. Reid Yochim assisted on the tally. In a losing effort, Appleby College was led by Sammy English, who tallied two goals. English scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Blue Dogs had gotten the advantage when the Saints' Yochim was sent off for boarding. Adam Scholz picked up the assist. English's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 St. Andrews College with 13:48 left in the third period. Scholz assisted on the tally. St. Andrews College's offense rang up 40 shots on Appleby College's net. The Saints could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game. St. Andrews College additionally got points from Mack Falconer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. St. Andrews College also had goals scored by Lucas Thorne and Jacob Miller, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Andrews College received assists from William Sirman, Corey Andonovski, and Regan Kimens, who each chipped in one. The Blue Dogs struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 20 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Will Graham also scored for Appleby College. More assists for Appleby College came via Steve Jang, who had two. Cole Chapman rejected 21 shots on goal for St. Andrews College. Appleby College's Nicolas Solari stopped 35 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Blue Dogs registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
