The North Kawartha Knights had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over the Georgina Ice. North Kawartha's Jake Ireland was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 41 saves and let only one puck past him. Ireland managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.6 prior to the game. The Knights were led by Jesse Douglas, who registered one goal and one assist. Douglas scored 14:16 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North Kawartha. Russell Fontyn picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:10 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. North Kawartha racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game the Knights had been spending in the box. North Kawartha forced Georgina's goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 37 shots and forcing 29 saves. Brett Chandler made 20 stops and Emilio Gallenero made nine. The Knights excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. North Kawartha outdid its season average for goals scored. The Knights average 3.4 goals per game. North Kawartha additionally got points from Fontyn, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Connor Gourlie, who also had one goal and one assist, and Christian Lachapelle, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. North Kawartha also got a goal from Shane Patterson as well. Other players who recorded assists for North Kawartha were Zack Pearson, Ethan Coens, Mitch Stewart, Justin Thain, Cameron Medland, and Nick Mann, who each chipped in one. The Ice stifled North Kawartha's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Georgina forced the Knights goalie Ireland to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. North Kawartha registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. For the Knights, Matt Douglas was ejected from the game. The Ice ended with 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Georgina ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Braydon Barton was ejected from the game.
