Donlon lifts W2 Union College over W2 Merrimack College, 3-0

Behind a great game by Elizabeth Donlon, who had two goals, W2 Union College defeated W2 Merrimack College, 3-0.

Donlon scored at 19:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 W2 Union College and again while 9:35 into the third to make the score 2-0 W2 Union College.

Michaela Haller spearheaded the defensive effort for W2 Union College, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 30 saves for the shutout. Haller managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 0.94 prior to the game.

W2 Union College kept W2 Merrimack College's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sasha Barry made 30 saves on 33 shots. The defensemen of W2 Union College were also effective in W2 Merrimack College's zone, and came away with two goals.

W2 Union College additionally got points from Julie Sophis, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for W2 Union College came via Sophie Vallas, Marymargaret Sequino, Samantha Gavin, Lauren OConnor, and Kathryn Riter, who each chipped in one.

W2 Merrimack College stifled W2 Union College's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

W2 Union College finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-3 with the man advantage. W2 Merrimack College incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities.
