Wooster rips Cincinnati, 7-1Alice Noble Ice Arena Sat, Oct 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Wooster had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over Cincinnati. Cincinnati was stymied by Wooster's netminder Steven Schmitt, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. The solid play of Schmitt will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.62. Cincinnati's power play was ineffective against Wooster's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Wooster forced Cincinnati's goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 44 shots and forcing 37 saves. Timothy OSullivan made 33 stops and Brian Tempel made four. Wooster put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cincinnati to score on any of its six power plays. Wooster bested its season scoring average. Wooster averages 3.6 goals per game. Wooster's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Wooster was helped by Will Schober, who racked up one goal. Schober scored 18:35 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wooster. Mike Zenone assisted on the tally. Wooster also got points from Tyler Crites, who also had two goals and one assist, Zenone, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Rubin Chavarria, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Nick Mooney, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Christian Miller, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Wooster received assists from Nick Tobey and Andy Romani, who each chipped in one and Trenton Mulnix, Jason Watts, and Ryan McCarty, who contributed two each. Cincinnati was led by Albert Janele, who scored the team's only goal. Janele scored 19:50 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wooster. Marc Anderson picked up the assist. Wooster incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Cincinnati incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
