Liberty University blows out Penn State University, 7-2

The Penn State University Nitty Lions had trouble finding ways to stop the Liberty University Flames, which beat Nitty Lions, 7-2.

Carrie Jickling was all over the ice for Liberty University, as he tallied two goals in the win. Jickling found the back of the net 3:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Liberty University and again while 12:20 into the first to make the score 2-0 Liberty University.

The Flames forced Penn State University goalie Hanna Scanlon to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Liberty University additionally got points from Nikki Mccombe, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Chelsey Greenwood, who also had one goal and two assists, and Courtney Gilmour, who also registered two goals and one assist. Madison Fischer also scored for Liberty University. Other players who recorded assists for Liberty University were Lauren Mcdonald, who had three and Catharine Burrell, Tara Lee, Lauren Pillisch, and Brittany Hymers, who each chipped in one.

The Nitty Lions did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 12 saves.

Penn State University was led by Elizabeth Tuorinsky, who tallied one goal and one assist. Tuorinsky scored on the power play 8:24 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Liberty University. The Nitty Lions had gained a power play chance when Mcdonald was whistled for holding. Kelly Watson picked up the assist. Penn State University also got a goal from Jacqueline Saideh as well. In addition, Penn State University received assists from Darby Kern and Darian Dempsey, who contributed one each.

Liberty University's Kelly Hutton stopped 12 shots out of the 14 that he faced. The Flames incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Scanlon rejected 32 shots on goal for Penn State University. The Nitty Lions incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
