Penn State University beats Northeastern University 5-0 as Scanlon gains shutout

Hanna Scanlon recorded a shutout against the Northeastern University Huskies as the Penn State University Nitty Lions picked up a 5-0 win.

Penn State University was led by Riley OConnor, who finished with one goal. OConnor scored 4:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Penn State University. Elizabeth Tuorinsky provided the assist.

The Nitty Lions excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Penn State University forced Northeastern University goalie Kimberly Pfeifle to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Penn State University also had goals scored by Caitlin Costello, who had two and Lucy Yeatman and Meghan Miller, who each put in one. More assists for Penn State University came via Cassandra Dunne, who had one and Ashton Schaffer and Devon Fisk, who each chipped in two.

Scanlon recorded 26 saves for the Nitty Lions. Penn State University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. The Huskies' Pfeifle stopped 32 shots out of the 37 that he faced.
