Smiling Penguins' comeback falls short, Mad Hatters wins 4-3

Mad Hatters, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Smiling Penguins and clinched a 4-3 victory.

Mad Hatters led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Mad Hatters' Patric Yuen scored at 5:17 in the second period to put Mad Hatters up 4-1.

Justin Darch had two goals and one assist to lead Mad Hatters. Darch scored the first of his two goals at 47 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mad Hatters. Nelson Yeo assisted on the tally. Darch's next tally made the score 3-1 Mad Hatters with 18:20 left in the second period. Yuen picked up the assist.

Mad Hatters kept Smiling Penguins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Francis May made 33 saves on 37 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Mad Hatters also got points from Yuen, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Hon Chong also scored for Mad Hatters. More assists for Mad Hatters came via Jason Brunette, who had one.

Smiling Penguins' offense operated below its season average. Smiling Penguins puts an average of 7.0 pucks into the net per game.

Smiling Penguins was led by Kristoffer Fransson, who tallied one goal and one assist. Fransson scored 6:42 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Mad Hatters. Smiling Penguins also had goals scored by Chung Wai Tam and Andrew Yick, who each put in one. In addition, Smiling Penguins received assists from Vinny Varma, who had one.

Bruce Wayne rejected 23 shots on goal for Mad Hatters. Mad Hatters avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of two power plays. Smiling Penguins incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities.
