Mcdonald leads Liberty University over Penn State University, 8-4

The Liberty University Flames' Lauren Mcdonald had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 8-4 win over the Penn State University Nitty Lions.

Mcdonald's tallies came at 11 seconds into the third period to make the score 5-4 Liberty University and 1:18 into the third to make the score 6-4 Liberty University.

Liberty University outdid its season average for goals scored. The Flames have scored at the pace of 5.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Liberty University's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Flames are averaging 1.2 goal against for the season.

Liberty University also got points from Carrie Jickling, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Catharine Burrell, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, and Chelsey Greenwood, who also registered one goal and two assists. Liberty University also had goals scored by Courtney Gilmour and Clarissa Tipping, who each put in one. In addition, Liberty University received assists from Nikki Mccombe and Brittany Hymers, who contributed one each.

Penn State University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Nitty Lions were helped by Darian Dempsey, who had one goal. Dempsey scored 12:05 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Penn State University. Darby Kern picked up the assist. Penn State University additionally got points from Claire Gauthier, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Kern, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jacqueline Saideh also scored for Penn State University. More assists for Penn State University came via Kelly Watson and Meghan Miller, who each chipped in one.

Liberty University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Penn State University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
