Liberty University hangs on, beats Adrian College 1-0

Catharine Burrell scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Liberty University Flames held off the challenges of the Adrian College Bulldog in a tough 1-0 win.

Burrell provided Liberty University with the game-winning tally when he scored 8:22 into the first period. The Flames had gotten the advantage when Adrian College's Kaillie Hardy was sent off for tripping. Nikki Mccombe picked up the assist.

Liberty University was led by Burrell, who tallied one goal.

The Flames put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulldog to score on any of their four power plays. Liberty University's offense operated below its season average. The Flames average 4.9 goals per game.

More assists for Liberty University came via Clarissa Tipping, who had one.

Adrian College did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bulldog put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game.

Rosie Kelly rejected 24 shots on goal for Liberty University. The Flames incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alison Dungey made 25 saves for Adrian College on 26 shots. The Bulldog incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
