Burrell's goals lift Liberty University to 2-0 victory over Davenport University

The Liberty University Flames relied on the scoring touch of Catharine Burrell, who netted two goals, to beat the Davenport University Panthers, 2-0.

Burrell's tallies came at 18:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Liberty University and 12 seconds into the third to make the score 2-0 Liberty University.

Liberty University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Flames were held below their usual level of production. Liberty University averages 5.1 goals per game. The Flames' offense rang up 40 shots on Davenport University's net.

In addition, Liberty University received assists from Carrie Jickling, Nikki Mccombe, and Courtney Gilmour, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Liberty University to score on any of its six power plays. Davenport University's offense operated below its season average. The Panthers put an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game. Davenport University found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 13 shots against the Flames' defense.

Liberty University's Rosie Kelly stopped 13 shots out of the 13 that he faced. The Flames incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Karley Ferguson rejected 38 shots on goal for the Panthers. Davenport University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
