Miami University rips Michigan University of, 5-1

The Michigan University of Wolverines had trouble finding ways to stop the Miami University RedHawks, which beat Wolverines, 5-1.

Miami University was led by Jordan Hanson, who finished with one goal. Hanson scored 11:21 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Miami University. Izzy Smith assisted on the tally.

The RedHawks forced Michigan University of goalie Bailey Hamill to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Miami University surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The RedHawks average 2.5 goals per game. Miami University capitalized on the Wolverines' penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.

Others who scored for Miami University included Michaela Goguen, Caroline Noble, Rachael Booth, and Kaley Mooney, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Miami University were Becca Senden and Jessica Gould, who contributed one each.

The RedHawks' defense shut down Michigan University of's forwards for much of the game, and the Wolverines got off only 13 shots during the contest.

Emalee Wills recorded 12 saves for Miami University. The RedHawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bailey Hamill made 30 saves for Michigan University of on 35 shots. The Wolverines totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
