Roman Catholic falls apart in second, loses to Salesianum, 7-3

Roman Catholic allowed Salesianum to net three goals during the second period and fell, 7-3.

Salesianum got the win thanks to a great game by Cameron Burke, who had two goals and one assist. Burke scored the first of his two goals at 1:42 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Salesianum. Rece Bergeman picked up the assist. Burke's next tally made the score 7-2 Salesianum with 16:27 left in the third period. Salesianum found itself down a man on Joseph DeFillipis's high sticking. Bergeman assisted on the tally.

Salesianum's penalty kill excelled, as Salesianum gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Salesianum stifled Roman Catholic's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Salesianum forced Roman Catholic goalie Joseph Giacobbo to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Salesianum surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Salesianum averages 3.5 goals per game. Salesianum's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Salesianum finished with 18 penalty minutes.

Salesianum also got points from Zach Swift, who also registered one goal and one assist. Salesianum also had goals scored by Devin LeBlanc and Kyle Scott, who each put in two. In addition, Salesianum received assists from Tyler Swift, who had one and Fisher Sellers, who had two.

Roman Catholic struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 20 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Roman Catholic was helped by Patrick Stermel, who tallied one goal. Stermel scored 2:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Roman Catholic. Others who scored for Roman Catholic included Richard Ziegler and Scott Megraw, who scored one goal each. More assists for Roman Catholic came via Michael Darrah and Austin Rehiel, who each chipped in one.

Salesianum's Bobby Cathell stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Joseph Giacobbo made 24 saves for Roman Catholic on 31 shots.
