Oneil nets hat trick, leads Colorado State University to 3-1 win over Midland University

Midland University could not stop the Colorado State University Rams' Molly Oneil, who tallied a hat trick in a 3-1 win.

Oneil got on the scoresheet 19:17 into the first period. He then added goals at 58 seconds into the second and at 18:59 into the second.

Colorado State University's penalty kill excelled, as the Rams gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Colorado State University stifled Midland University's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rams' offense rang up 56 shots on Midland University's net. Colorado State University's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Rams finished with 18 penalty minutes.

More assists for Colorado State University came via Alexandrya Reda, Nelligan Brown, Sierra Dell, and Avery Kauffmann, who each chipped in one.

Midland University managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Midland University finished below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game.

Midland University was led by Malia Shimabukuro, who scored the team's only goal. Shimabukuro scored 11:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Midland University. Traci Corcoran assisted on the tally.
