Davenport University holds on for 3-2 win against Grand Valley State University

The Davenport University Panthers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Grand Valley State University Lakers on the way to a 3-2 win.

Davenport University made the score 3-1 on a goal by Katie Dubro at 11:27 in the third period, and Grand Valley State University got as close as 3-2 when Corey Robison scored 13:04 into the third period.

Emily Ellis was all over the ice for the Panthers, as he registered two goals in the win. Ellis scored at 1:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Davenport University and again while on the power play 3:40 into the third to make the score 2-1 Davenport University.

Davenport University stifled the Lakers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

More assists for Davenport University came via Catie Dunne, who had two and Megan Martin and Adrienne Porcalla, who each chipped in one.

Grand Valley State University forced the Panthers goalie Karley Ferguson to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

The Lakers were helped by Stacey Mathieu, who had one goal. Mathieu scored 11:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brelin Tasker assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Grand Valley State University were Karyn Schmaltz and Allison Lowe, who contributed one each.

Ferguson rejected 44 shots on goal for Davenport University. The Panthers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Taylor Watson made 15 saves for Grand Valley State University on 18 shots. The Lakers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
