Davenport University falls apart in second, loses to Robert Morris Univ Illinoi, 5-0

The Davenport University Panthers was within striking distance after one period, but the Robert Morris Univ Illinoi Eagles put the pedal down in the second en route to a 5-0 victory.

Bria Berggren had a great game for Robert Morris Univ Illinoi, netting two goals. Berggren scored at 11:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Robert Morris Univ Illinoi and again while 3:53 into the second to make the score 3-0 Robert Morris Univ Illinoi.

The Eagles forced Davenport University's goalies to work without much rest, ripping 45 shots and forcing 40 saves. Dawn Salo made 29 stops and Karley Ferguson made 11. Robert Morris Univ Illinoi put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Panthers to score on any of their three power plays. The Eagles got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Robert Morris Univ Illinoi also got points from Makaila Anderson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Abbey Revelle also scored for Robert Morris Univ Illinoi. More assists for Robert Morris Univ Illinoi came via Grace Dynek, who had three and Allyson Zachwieja and Alexandra Nurse, who each chipped in one.

Davenport University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Robert Morris Univ Illinoi power plays.

Robert Morris Univ Illinoi's Kendra Gallaher stopped 20 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Eagles incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Panthers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
