Gloucester Midget AAA beats Hawkesbury Midget AAA 3-2 after comeback scare

The Hawkesbury Midget AAA Hawks tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Gloucester Midget AAA Rangers held on for a 3-2 victory.

Gloucester Midget AAA took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Hawkesbury Midget AAA storm back on a Mathieu Grandmont goal 3:12 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Rangers were paced by Greg Love, who registered one goal. Love scored on the power play 2:58 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Gloucester Midget AAA. Gloucester Midget AAA had taken the advantage when the Hawks' Adam Levesque got sent off for hooking. Connor Noonan picked up the assist.

The Rangers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Hawkesbury Midget AAA power plays. Gloucester Midget AAA forced Hawkesbury Midget AAA goalie Alex Labreche to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Gloucester Midget AAA additionally got points from Noonan, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Sam Paquette, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Gloucester Midget AAA received assists from Marc Brosseau, who had one and Nicolas Seguin, who had two.

The Hawks were helped by Alex Elie, who tallied one goal. Elie scored 3:51 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gloucester Midget AAA. More assists for Hawkesbury Midget AAA came via Brandon Legare, who had one.

The Rangers' Jean-Sebastien Gratton stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Gloucester Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alex Labreche made 28 saves for Hawkesbury Midget AAA on 31 shots. The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
