Bygrave leads Kanata Midget AAA over Carleton Place Midget AAA, 7-2

Brian Bygrave had two goals and one assist to lead the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers to a 7-2 victory over the Carleton Place Midget AAA Canadians.

Bygrave scored at 4:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kanata Midget AAA and again while on the power play 14:32 into the second to make the score 5-2 Kanata Midget AAA.

Kanata Midget AAA's penalty kill excelled, as the Lasers gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 5:36 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Kanata Midget AAA was often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The Lasers surpassed its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. Kanata Midget AAA stifled Carleton Place Midget AAA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Lasers' goal total was higher than their season average. Kanata Midget AAA has scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Kanata Midget AAA additionally got points from David Silye, who also had one goal and one assist and Bennett Stockdale, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Kanata Midget AAA also got a goal from Daniel McIntyre as well. In addition, Kanata Midget AAA received assists from Luca Nocita, who had two, Cade Townend, who had three, and Tyler Orban and Adam Church, who each chipped in one.

The Canadians forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. Carleton Place Midget AAA had been averaging 13.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Lasers' defense shut down the Canadians' forwards for much of the game, and Carleton Place Midget AAA got off only 14 shots during the contest. The Canadians' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Carleton Place Midget AAA gives up 2.1 goals per game.

The Canadians were helped by Cameron Scissons, who registered one goal. Scissons scored 8:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place Midget AAA. Brayden Campeau picked up the assist. Ryland Mosley also scored for Carleton Place Midget AAA. More assists for Carleton Place Midget AAA came via Reece Bolton, who had one.

Jean-Philippe Tourigny made 12 saves for Kanata Midget AAA on 14 shots. The Lasers registered three goals on six power play opportunities. For Kanata Midget AAA, Andrew MacKinnon was ejected from the game. Michael Leach recorded 18 saves for Carleton Place Midget AAA. The Canadians ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mosley was ejected from the game.
