Kanata Midget AAA falls to OHA U18 Midget AAA in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The OHA U18 Midget AAA OHA U17's Julien Allard scored 4:50 into overtime to beat the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers, 4-3 (OT).

OHA U18 Midget AAA came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The OHA U17 was down 3-1 after a goal by Kanata Midget AAA's Brian Bygrave at 6:57 in the third period. OHA U18 Midget AAA knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Craig Garrigan at 13:08 in the third period.

Jon Vandermolen and Allard provided the spark for the OHA U17, combining for three goals and two assists. Vandermolen registered two goals and Allard also added one goal and two assists.

OHA U18 Midget AAA stifled the Lasers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

OHA U18 Midget AAA additionally got points from Allard, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Garrigan, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for OHA U18 Midget AAA came via Kyle Foreman, who had two and Josh Kim, Heath Ford, and Dylan Stacey, who contributed one each.

Kanata Midget AAA forced the OHA U17 goalie Francis Asselin to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Lasers struggled on the penalty kill, allowing OHA U18 Midget AAA to score three power play goals on five chances.

Daniel McIntyre also scored for Kanata Midget AAA. In addition, Kanata Midget AAA received assists from David Silye, Nathan MacKechnie, and Justin Palmer, who each chipped in one.

The OHA U17's Asselin stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. OHA U18 Midget AAA incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Cameron Scott made 26 saves for Kanata Midget AAA on 30 shots. The Lasers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kanata Midget AAA ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and MacKechnie was ejected from the game.
